The Recycling & Donation Intake Specialist is responsible for sorting, cleaning, basic assessment and disassembly of bikes, bike parts, and accessories donated to the Community Cycling Center. The Recycling & Donation Intake Specialist will play a key role in the Cycling Centers continual recycling efforts through our weekly Salvage Sunday efforts. The position will require an ability to follow verbal directions as well as follow written checklists and guides for processes. Candidates for this position will have the ability and attention (or supplementary supervision) to work independently at times throughout the day. Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities: • Contribute to a welcoming shop environment for people of all backgrounds through professional and safe conduct. • Play a large role in ongoing recycling efforts during our weekly Salvage Sunday. • Sort and clean bicycle parts and accessory donations. • Bicycle check-in including frame alignment and cursory assessment of major systems such as wheels and drive train. • Bicycle inventorying including measuring, labeling, and completing necessary paperwork. • Disassembly of unusable bicycles including harvesting of useful parts. • As a non-profit we believe that fundraising is everyone’s job. There is an expectation that all employees will support fundraising efforts and effectively communicate the organization’s mission. General Qualifications: • Personable, receptive and compassionate approach to customer service • Constructive communication skills • Safe and professional conduct • Ability to use hand tools • Ability to focus on and complete tasks as assigned • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to accomplishing tasks • Capacity to work independently and deliver on objectives • Basic knowledge of bicycles and their components • A commitment to environmentalism and recycling • A strong desire to learn and develop professional skills in the bicycle industry • A commitment to equity and social justice Schedule: Must be available to work Sundays, other days and times are flexible.
