STEM EDUCATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WHAT Administrate for the Northeast Regional Middle School Science Bowl competition WHERE MIT, Cambridge WHAT This fast-paced regional competition will engage middle school students from MA, ME, NH and VT, and excite them to study math, science, and engineering, and hopefully inspire them to pursue related careers. Middle school students will answer questions from life science, physical science, earth and space science, energy, mathematics. The winning team will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the National Science Bowl (April 25-29), 2019. While no science/engineering knowledge is required to administrate, attention to detail is important when checking in competitors, ensuring lunch limits so there is enough enough food for everyone, etc. Learn more about the National Science Bowl organized by the US Department of Energy at https://science.energy.gov/wdts/nsb/about/ HOW Sign up by 2/15 at http://www.pmd.org/s/022319.htm Volunteers must be age 16 or older. PMD policy requires all individuals age 16+ to sign up themselves (and may not sign up others). Incomplete submissions cannot be honored. No partial participation can be accommodated for this or any other PMD projects. This means that the competition cannot accommodate late arrivals or unscheduled departures. After you apply online successfully, you will see a confirmation screen AND receive an email confirmation message. Then before the competition, PMD will email a PDF with specific information, including directions to MIT by public transit and by car, checklist on how to prepare, what to expect, directions and map, and a waiver.
