About

A Withers Collection Museum and Gallery Docent Volunteer is a creative, imaginative, enthusiastic individual who provides interpretative services to Museum visitors through guided tours. All activities relate to the Museum’s mission: to educate the public and preserve the works of Dr. Ernest C. Withers, Sr. and make his work available to the world through digitalization.

The Withers Collection offers you:

  • The opportunity to learn about history of our Collection, photographic conservation, preservation, and archival processing

  • The ability to work with diverse groups of people

  • The enjoyment of special event and behind-the-scenes preparation and participation in Exhibitions


Essential Functions

  • Greet and admit visitors to the museum according to the Withers Collection policy

  • Conduct tours for school and private groups, off-site exhibits, trade shows, festivals and other events 

  • Participate in required training sessions and staff meetings

  • Assist members of Withers staff by performing basic administrative and technical assignments

  • Operate computers, printers, and other office equipment

  • Respond appropriately and accurately to requests for information and general questions from the public and provide visitors with up-to-date information about our exhibitions and programs

  • Contribute to providing a positive, professional, welcoming, and safe working environment

  • Keep museum grounds free from trash and well groomed.


Professional Attire:

Top: Solid Black Polo shirt or Withers Collection shirt (provided)

Bottom: Black pants

Shoes: Comfortable and enclosed shoes or sneakers
