Memphis Aquifer and Water Educator Training

Friday, February 28th, 2020 from 8:00am to 12:00pm (CT)

About

Becoming a WOW educator/docent is a great opportunity for you to help our community learn more about the value of the Memphis aquifer, the source of drinking water for most of Memphis and Shelby County.

We're seeking people who want to talk with people of diverse backgrounds.  For weekdays, we are seeking people who want to speak to K-12, primarily 4th grade.  For weekends, we are seeking people who would feel comfortable speaking at festivals and public events.

This will be the second training session for Water on Wheel (WOW) docent educators.  Please allow for up to four hours.  We will provide breaks, snacks, and parking passes.

You'll learn about CAESER, our education and outreach offerings, and what's expected of WOW docent educators.

We'll provide detailed information about the Memphis aquifer and more, to ensure your comfort in being a docent/educator.

The University of Memphis requires paperwork to be completed, so there will be time for that to be done.

You must complete this training before you can become a WOW docent.

If you are unable to attend this training, we'll have more, but we haven't set the date for the next one.

We will provide parking passes for you during the training.  University of Memphis visitor parking information may be found here: https://www.memphis.edu/parking/permit/visitor.php  If you park in the Rose Garage, we'll provide a pass for that garage.

We'll hold the training on the 9th floor of Wilder Tower.  Here is a campus map:  https://umwa.memphis.edu/campusmap/index.php

If you have questions, or you have not spoken with us about becoming a docent, please call 901.678.5110 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and ask for Sarah or Michelle.
