Open Volunteer Opportunity: Community Garden revamp at North Austin Y and Rec Center!

Saturday, January 11th, 2020 from 9:00am to 12:00pm (CT)

About

The YMCA North Austin Community Recreation Center is a one of a kind partnership between City of Austin Parks and Recreation and the YMCA. In addition to all the amazing amenities and services at Y's it also serves as a Rec Center for a traditionally underserved part of Austin. The North Austin Community Garden is a beautiful place for community members to connect to nature and forge a connection between the earth and the food they eat!

Join us as we give back and help revamp the garden just in time for planting season. Volunteers will be updating garden beds, removing brush and debris, adding mulch pathways and weeding while working alongside plot owners and community members. We will provide tools, KIND bars, gloves, and fresh, cold drinking water - PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATERBOTTLE to reduce waste.

We'll meet here at the Community Garden, near the corner of Mearns Meadow and Rutland. Please park across Rutland near Quail Creek Park if possible. We look forward to having you all out at the North Y, thanks so much!

So sorry that my son and I will not be able to attend today after all. He’s sick. (Chris Hartnett and Diego Barraz).
