Knowbility is an internationally-known nonprofit based in Austin, Texas. Since 1999, Knowbility has worked to create a more inclusive digital world for all people, including people with disabilities. We promote awareness about digital inclusion and train people regarding effective online accessibility strategies.
Knowbility has several years of photos on 3 ½ -inch disks. We need these transferred to flash drives and our Flickr account, so that we can put in IDs and have a better accounting of our work for more than 20 years.
We need a volunteer who:
We have no idea how long this will take a volunteer to do. You absolutely can do it over several days, if that's what it takes. Added bonus: we often have really good food in the office! Many of our volunteers have said, "Wow, I never leave hungry!" We have free parking all around our building. This work must be done onsite at our offices, and anytime between 9:30 and 4 p.m. We can't accommodate evening hours for this assignment because we aren't willing for disks to leave our premises - but if this assignment is completed, we may later have an assignment that a remote volunteer could do to ID these photos. This is a good opportunity for people interested in marketing, public relations and archival management. We want this done quickly, as in within three weeks from start to finish, not stretched out over several weeks.People who are looking to complete a certain number of community service hours are welcomed. We will be happy to provide a letter confirming your hours and what you did for Knowbility if you finish at least two assignments. Please sign up only if you have the time and commitment to see tasks through to completion!
- Has their own computer
- Has a drive that allows them to read our 3 ½ -inch disks disks
- Can put these photos on their own computer, then onto our flash drives
- Can put also these photos on Flickr in some kind of order (albums) such that we can quickly put on appropriate IDs.
