Many people and families in our communities are are affected by mental health issues. According to a study from Denver Public Health (released in 2018), at any given time:

  • 1 in 8 Denver residents is depressed
  • 3 in 10 students are Denver middle and high schools feels persistently “sad and hopeless” for more than two weeks at a time during the course of a year
  • Almost 70% of Coloradans who are depressed are not getting treatment

In 2018, Denver voters approved a new sales tax raises $45 million each year for mental-health services, suicide-prevention programs and substance-abuse treatment. The tax, which amounts to 25 cents on a $100 purchase, began January 1, 2019.
