Northwest District Park Trail Love Day

Saturday, March 7th, 2020 from 9:00am to 12:30pm (CT)

We will bring love to our dirt trails by mulching muddy ruts near the footbridge across Shoal Creek and around our pond. Our well-used dirt footpaths on top of the dam could use your help in getting a new layer of dry material to start the year on the right base. We will also be planting native grass on the sides of the dam near the footbridge. There will be extra fun for kiddos willing to brave the day! Snacks and drinks provided, plus you will receive an Austin Parks Foundation Its My Park Day T-Shirt for your efforts.

What to Wear:
Please wear appropriate clothes that can get dirty, good footwear to help pull those mulch sleds up the dam and headgear to keep the sun in check.

What to Bring:
Reusable drink bottle, a favorite shovel or metal rake marked with your name, work gloves, family and friends.

What to expect:
Your morning will start by signing-in and a safety briefing. You can pick which job you would like to do from the following list:
  • Shovel mulch into mulch sleds from the pile of mulch in the parking area
  • Bring filled mulch sled to trail area for dumping
  • Rake mulch out on the trail
  • Tamp mulch down with a tamper
  • Dig holes for grass plans on the side of the dam
  • Plant grasses plants on the dam
  • Pick up trash around the park
We will work until all the mulch from the parking lot pile is spread on trails on the dam and around the pond.
