Feed our Families | Green Dot Public Schools

Open Opportunity
This event has been cancelled.

About

Green Dot Public Schools TN, GDPST, has been afforded an opportunity, in partnership with the Mid-South Food Bank, to serve people most in need in our communities. GDPST will host three mobile food pantries to feed 350 families next week at Kirby Middle School, Hillcrest Middle School & Fairley High School. The boxes will contain enough canned goods, cereal, protein and possibly fresh produce to feed a family of four for a week.

The Ask

We need volunteers (please use the link to sign up) who will sort & package food the day it is delivered from the Mid - South Food Bank and volunteers to distribute food the following day to families. Feel free to volunteer as often as you are available. Because there is a delivery window from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, our goal is to package food from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

Safety First

Gloves and masks will be provided. We are working on logistics to make sure person to person contact is very limited. Families will remain in their cars to fill out paperwork that is required by the Food Bank. Food will be placed in the trunk and they will be on their way!

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you or someone in your household traveled to a country on the CDC’s Level 3 watch list in the last 30 days? At this time, these include China, Iran, Italy and South Korea. These may change. See the CDC’s guidelines for the most up-to-date list.
  2. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.
  3. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a fever, cough or shortness of breath. See the CDC’s symptom information.
If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
