About

Equal Access Alabama is partnering with Spirit of Luke/A Promise to Help and West Central Alabama AHEC to assist with the ongoing vaccination campaign in rural Alabama. Spirit of Luke/A Promise to Help’s next mission is in Fort Deposit, Alabama. The event will consist of a stationary site at the Fort Deposit Municipal Complex, where Spirit of Luke will have their usual clinic plus a vaccination site. Volunteers are expected to help assist and administer Pfizer vaccinations to the Fort Deposit community and surrounding areas. Various roles will be needed for mixing the vaccine, pre-vaccination screening, keeping records, and assisting with administration. For this event, volunteers can help Spirit of Luke with giving vaccinations to either homebound patients in Lowndes (Team A) or at their regular clinic in Fort Deposit (Team B). Volunteers can also help participate in AHEC’s vaccination campaign for the 2nd round of vaccine in Lower Peach Tree and Vredenburgh (Team C) or focus on the addresses around Selma (Team D). Please indicate on the form which team you’d rather be a part of. If you are interested in Team C or D then please email Raymond Lopez (raylopez@uab.edu) for details.

For Teams A and B:

The Fords will leave from the parking lot of the More Than Conquerors Faith Church, 1327 Dennison Ave. S.W. 35211, at 6:30 am on 06/26/2021. You are not required to meet up at the church with the Fords unless you would like to carpool*. Several of us are leaving from different UASOM campuses, so it is okay to commute to the location on your own. Please be at the Fort Deposit Municipal Complex by 9am if this is the case. *If you need a ride in the Ford’s van please call or email Rev. Ford, and they will make accommodations. His email is galaza@aol.com (if you are unable to get in contact with Rev. Ford, let me know and I will try to setup a ride for you). Our mission site is at the Fort Deposit Municipal Complex, 260 Old Fort Road, Fort Deposit, Al 36032. Fort Deposit is approximately a 2 hours drive from Birmingham. The directions are as follows: Merge onto I-65 toward Montgomery for 110 miles, pass through Montgomery and take exit 142, turn right on HWY 185 , go 2 miles and take right into Municipal Complex parking lot.

Reach out to Maggie Blevins at 256-606-4961 if you have trouble finding the area. *Note: There may be poor signal in this area, so I may not be able to receive phone calls at the location site by then. If this is the case, please call the center at (334) 227-4841 and request to speak to Maggie or Raymond.
