Our Plan for This Project
The monarch and other butterflies need flowering plants for their nectar and other plants as food for their large, the caterpillars. Moths rely on other flowers for nectar, too—and when they're out hunting for mosquitoes, bats will eat moths, too! We will plant wildflowers to attract butterflies and moths to the banks of Tar Branch, as small tributary of Walnut Creek, in Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park.

Requirement Details
Come ready to dig, plant, and water! We will be planting 4-inch nursery pots, some bulbs, and perhaps even some seeds. We will supply tools for loosening the soil. If you have trowels, kid-sized tools, or other tools that would be useful for planting the potted plants, bring them for you to use. Bring a refillable bottle of drinking water. We will be working in the open, away from any poison ivy.
Perks
We hope to get this project approved for It's My Park Day. If so, we will have T-shirts, KIND bars, and perhaps other perks!
Parking Details
The closest parking is right at the trailhead, but with other events in the park you might have to use the lot by the swimming pool or the lot across the park road, by the picnic shelter. If things get really crowded, you may park along the curb on the south side of the park road.
