About
Join BCP staff and fellow park lovers to help remove invasive plants on the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve! This helps restore native trees and other plants that wildlife depends on and keeps the destructive invasives from spreading further in the preserve. Volunteers get the satisfaction of giving back and an AWESOME It's My Park Day t-shirt designed by local artists! This time we'll be pulling vinca, aka periwinkle, an ornamental ground cover that's spreading into the preserve. We'll be hand-pulling sitting in the shade and laying down shade cloths, so it's less strenuous than some of our more active invasive removal projects. We'll meet at the Snowden House (https://goo.gl/maps/f3nTpPJeKyu34bzE7) and walk to the project site. We'll provide the work gloves and tools, but PLEASE BRING YOUR WATER BOTTLE. We'll meet at the house near the parking area and get started right at 9:00. Please note there is a light 3/4 a mile hike to the work site, and all work will be conducted in the shade. Project registration will be limited, so please only register if you are certain you can participate, and if something changes between registration and the event, please let us know so we can open that spot back up. Thank you so much for joining us on It's My Park Day Fall!
