About

Join friends and neighbors in a fun and vigorous work day in South Austin Park! We will be collecting trash and weed wrenching invasive non-native plants crowding out native trees and understory plants and reducing biodiversity.

This event is a continuation of two very productive and beneficial It’s My Park Day events in the Spring and Fall of 2022. It's inspiring to see how much can be accomplished when people work together! Removing ligustrum and other invasive non-native plants requires ongoing monitoring for regrowth after they have been removed.

South Austin Park is located in the Galindo neighborhood at Cumberland and South Fifth Street. The park is also home to the South Austin Recreation Center and the South Austin Tennis Center.

We will be providing tools and training prior to the work session. Please bring your own water bottle, and tools and work gloves if you have them. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes that cover your feet.

We will meet at 9:00 AM in the parking lot in front of the Recreation Center at 1100 Cumberland Road on the day of the event.
