Waller Creek Cleanup!

Saturday, April 1st, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm (CT)

About

The Waller Creek Conservancy is teaming up with Austin Parks Foundation for a Clean Up of our favorite urban stream--Waller Creek!

The Conservancy's mission focuses on transforming and sustaining Austin’s Waller Creek creating an extraordinary urban place that connects, surprises, and inspires all of us. This includes an effort to connect 1.5 miles along the stream with a series of parks and trails through the heart of downtown from Lady Bird Lake all the way up to the University of Texas.

This spring we're going to focus on the southern reach of the creek near Lady Bird Lake - The Waller Creek Delta. This area is beautiful with deeper waters, lounging turtles, ducks and herons and dense vegetation--but because this is the mouth of the stream trash and debris collects after rain events. To tackle this we’ll have a bank team and creek team; be prepared to get dirty, maybe a little wet and to develop a new relationship with your urban creek!

Hello IMPD Volunteers!

Due to SXSW road closures, parking closures and limited access to our site, the Waller Creek Cleanup has been moved to Saturday, April 1 from 10am-12noon. We apologize for the change, but look forward to our chance to get together and give back to Waller Creek!

Thank you!

Unfortunately my wife & I will not be available next weekend. I love today's rain...but I'm disappointed to miss this cleanup event.

Hello to all of our amazing Waller Creek volunteers!

We are sad to report that today's cleanup at Waller Creek will be cancelled due to weather conditions. Collecting litter at creek level creates unique challenges in the rain, and unfortunately our site conditions this morning prevent an effective cleanup event.

We will still be hosting our Waller Creek Cleanup! next Saturday, 3/11, from 10am-12noon.

Thank you to all of our volunteers, and we hope to see you next week!

P.S. Still available this morning to support Austin parks? There are a number of other cleanups that will be able to continue despite weather conditions, find volunteer openings here!
