About

Please come out and help to improve this beautiful and historic little park. Limestone for the state capitol was quarried here, shortly after the Civil War, and loaded onto railroad cars to build the state capitol. Starting in 2005, Dr. Jim Turney created the Friends of the Convict Hill Quarry Park and, since then, many neighbors and volunteers have helped to preserve and improve this little oasis where wildlife, and the remains of the rock quarry can still be found. The park is kept in a very natural state, but we will need to add mulch to the trails and remove invasive weeds. This project is suitable for the whole family, so please join us if you can.
