After this service project, I couldn't wait to tell my friends and family about what I had done! We were tasked with cutting buttons from shirts. What made it so cool was that a manufacturing company used GoodWill shirts to make rags. Then they gave Austin Creative Reuse the button scraps, where the buttons were cut off and used for crafting and selling. ACR would then give the scrap pieces back to the company to make more rags! I talked with so many interesting people that volunteered often, and I can see why! I definitely want to go back, I had so much fun!

I attended this volunteer opportunity with my roommate. It was a really great opportunity to bond, as well as learn about how we can locally strive to be waste-free. We cut buttons from t-shirts, in order for the material to be sent and made into industrial cloth. An awesome aspect about ACR is that there are so many different tasks that can be done while there. I cannot wait to return!
