About

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Interested in acting for social change in Providence? Passionate about social justice and health equity? Apply to be a Connect for Health Advocate! Connect for Health, formerly known as Health Leads, understands that a lack of basic resources is often at the root cause of poor health and thus strives to integrate basic resources into healthcare delivery. Advocates work at Hasbro Children's Hospital to connect low-income families to resources vital to their health, such as utilities assistance, public benefits, furniture, and food. Each week, advocates spend 2.5 hours in the clinic, follow up regularly with clients, and attend advocate development meetings.
You don't have to be pre-med to work with Connect for Health (though many of our advocates are!) — anyone interested in social justice and getting involved in the Providence community is welcome and encouraged to apply.
*WORK STUDY is available for eligible students!*
Advocate responsibilities include:
-Attend New Advocate Training on TBD
-Attend one 2.5-hour shift each week, spending this time working with patients and their families in-person
-Devote at least 2 hours a week to follow-up with clients by phone
-Attend a Group Follow-Up (GFU) session for 1 hour each week, where you will get support from a small group of fellow Advocates
-Attend an Advocate Development session for 1.5 hours every other Wednesday 6-7:30 pm to learn new skills for working with clients and reflect on social justice and health care issues
We will accept applications on a rolling basis.
