A*Med Community Hospice and we are looking for volunteers who are able to make visits with our patients as their schedules allow. We work with patients both in their homes and in centers, and the hours of volunteering are extremely flexible in what we refer to a "Direct Volunteering." Direct Volunteering simply means the volunteer works directly with the patient, our Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants are still in charge of care, these visits are about quality of life for the patient. We ask that volunteers sit and visit, watch a TV show, play music, sing, play games, the same type of company we all want in our own lives! Our main goal is to increase our Direct Volunteers, but we do also have an office, a bit south for many of your members, at 7800 Shoal Creek Blvd, Austin, where we have "Indirect Volunteering" which involves office/administrative work and weekly calls to patients to check-in and log any needs for our Nurses and CNAs. Mission Statement "To provide a high quality, comprehensive palliative program dedicated to promoting comfort and quality of life for clients and families facing a terminal illness. In recognition that facing a life limiting disease is much more than a physical experience, A*MED Community Hospice utilizes an interdisciplinary team approach to provide services for their clients and families. As human beings, we experience emotional and spiritual losses as well as physical during the dying process. Through meeting the numerous needs of the clients and families, we strive to enable the client to live life to the fullest extent possible and the family to adjust to life after their loss."
