Thank you for choosing us to volunteer your time, and services with us. We love having a community partnership with FranU. Having volunteers in our building makes our days a lot more exciting and fun. Our residents light up when they see new faces and make new friends. Often times, they will end up stealing your heart and you will find yourself back again for future visits beyond service learning. This is always the ultimate goal, to form and foster relationships. We offer all types of activities and we can discuss what type of things that interest you. We have a plethora of options.
Before you begin, I will need to do a volunteer orientation with you. We can talk about the guidelines, rules and expectations. It is a super quick 15 minute deal. A few forms signed and I will go over the orientation booklet.
I am available any Monday through Friday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. and 1:00- 5:30 p.m.
Some important Directions when you arrive to our campus:
1. St James Place has many different buildings when you come to see us. It is an extremely large, 52 acre campus that can be overwhelming upon arrival. It's important that you know that you are volunteering in the healthcare areas of St James Place. The buildings actual name is “Health and Wellness Building” (Our Address is 333 Lee Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 Near Lee High School.)
2. There are two entrances to SJP. (GPS tends to send you to the wrong entrance, which is a traffic light at Boone Drive and Lee Drive. The correct entrance is directly across the street from a Brothers gas station and a Goodyear)
3. You will see a guard who will greet you at the gatehouse. When you arrive let them know that you are a volunteer for Holly Feldhacker. They will let you know where to park and where to enter the health and wellness building.
(This is the first building on your right. You will NOT go through the actual gate that surrounds the rest of our campus.)
We are thrilled to have you and can't wait to share some of our days with you. This is a special place.
