North Carolina Stop Human Trafficking

About

NC Stop Human Trafficking seeks to create a community that actively works toward abolishing human trafficking.

This is how we do it:

We educate our community through free awareness programming. We train law enforcement, social workers, counselors, educators, hospitality staff and foster care professionals on the red flags of human trafficking.

We advocate at the legislature for stronger anti-human trafficking legislation. Good policy initiatives can improve victim response; fund organizations that do anti-human trafficking work; ensure demand for trafficking is deterred; and stymie the victim to trafficker pipeline.

We collaborate with other professionals. NC Stop Human Trafficking is the founding organization of the Pitt County Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Human trafficking is a multi-faceted issue that touches social justice, criminal justice, children's advocacy, domestic violence, sexual assault and exploitative labor practices, just to name a few. A multidisciplinary team is needed to address victim needs and prevent and raise awareness about human trafficking.

We introduce fair trade products into the local market. Fair trade certified products are made without child labor, slave labor and for fair wages. When more people demand fair trade products, the demand for products made from exploitation decreases. This is how we make a global impact in the fight.
