Live HealthSmart Alabama

About

Live HealthSmart Alabama (LHSA) is UAB's inaugural Grand Challenge initiative, working to make good health simple for all Alabamians.

LHSA is addressing the policies, systems, and the built environment that create barriers to good health. By focusing on four of the major drivers of health disparities: access to good nutrition, physical activity, preventive health, and education, we are working to make healthy choices easier.

Initially launched in 2019 with five demonstrations communities of Kingston, Titusville, Bush Hills, East Lake, and the UAB Campus, Live HealthSmart Alabama has grown to include additional neighborhoods of Central City, Evergreen, Druid Hills, Norwood, Fountain Heights, and Smithfield. LHSA has begun to expand across Alabama, starting with Selma, and more cities to come!

LHSA benefits from an extensive network of 100+ statewide partners with whom we have built strong and trusting relationships and who are committed to improving the health of all Alabamians.
