VA Blanket making
Read, prepped, and helped make social media for our book club!
I realize writing a card is not much to contribute to covid-19, however I wanted to do something to brighten up someone's day. I wish I was able to do more but during quarantine, you can't really volunteer in person anymore.
I arrived at 10am and immediately got to work. I sorted and put away 3-4 racks of clothing, and helped put Christmas decorations out on display. The staff was really nice and friendly, and they were very appreciative of the help. I had an overall great experience.

It was a little hard to get to my destination by walking, but when I finally arrived I had an amazing time. The staff was very helpful on telling me what boxes go where, and they let me have at it with sorting. Since I always enjoy sorting through things, it was nice organizing what goes where and then waiting till someone switches out the large boxes so I can fill up the next box. The only thing I wish I done right from the start was bringing a water bottle. The warehouse gets hot quick from what I found and I had to leave through the busing system for about an hour to go to Walmart and get myself some Gatorade to keep myself hydrated. They do offer water there, I found out later, but I'll take it as a lesson learned.
I had so much fun being able to help out such a great cause! everyone there was so welcoming and fun!
This was my first opportunity to get involved with the Freshman Service Project through the VAC on campus. The project was overall productive and aided in helping clean up the local Razorback Greenway of common food garbage and cigarette butts. Overall, I enjoyed my experience volunteering and hope to participate in future Freshman Service Project Events.
I truly loved volunteering at somewhere so passionate about their mission. Being able to help our community while being welcomed by the staff and other volunteers made it an amazing experience!
