This was mostly a scouting trip for me, since I'd not been there before. I did get some chiggers, so next time I'll be powdering my socks and pantlegs with sulphur. That's highly effective.
Water was on hand, but there were no drinking containers. It would have been nice to have known that ahead of time.
I thought the walking and parking would be closer together. I thought I'd be able to go back to my car for other camera gear for example.
Next time I'll also wear a hat. I expected there to be more shade than there was.
Great opportunity for me to make iNaturalist observations at an interesting and unfamiliar location. Looking forward to see how the transformation to more public access develops.
What a great opportunity provided to us to see this preserve, while also getting to help the general public enjoy it and tally some wildlife sightings while stimulating more interest in the natural world. John Davis did a great job organizing and managing this event, and was super helpful and kind with both volunteers and the public. Hope we can do it again.
Enjoyed it very much. Parking was a little far from main gather. Shuttle rides were nice and appreciated but it just too much for excess gear to be that far away all day long. Very much enjoyed the visiting and meeting new people. The constant breeze was a life savor. Too bad about the mothing cancel but the rain was welcome. Look forward to the next one.
Great time catching up with members of the iNaturalist community. It was a little on the hot side today but I always enjoy getting out and doing diversity surveys.
Well organized, great logistical planning, safety, water, and transportation considerations.
A wonderful nature experience. I’m glad that preserves like this one are protected and hope to have more chances to help in the future.
Wonderful! Well organized. Beautiful opportunity to explore. I’m gonna need a tutorial on butterfly nets though :D
Very grateful to have been introduced to the iNaturalist app and community.
Well organized for safety and information dispersal. I look forward to returning.
