FACT is a competitive group, and we pride ourselves on being able to raise as much food donations as possible. We strive to break our record this year of 2400lbs.
Had a great time volunteering at the food bank! Probably one of the most engaging and fun time I've had volunteering at any event. For this particular shift I was in charge of getting the food to the food inspectors. Stevo was my volunteer leader and he was great. Absolutely loved him! He gave great vibes and made my volunteering experience very enjoyable. They played 80's music on the loud speakers while we worked which made it that much more fun. Giving back to my community never felt so great. At the end of the shift, Stevo revealed to us that in one shift as a group we managed to package 7,000+ pounds of food!! I was completely blown away. There are many different jobs you can help in so I will definitely come back again and cycle through the various positions.
We sorted produce and provided meals to over 2,000 people. I enjoyed the experience once again.
My second time volunteering was great! I helped separate good and bad boxes that all the food would be going into. I will definitely be back to volunteer!
I enjoyed working with the food bank. We were able to provide thousands of meals for needy families with our volunteer contribution.
Great experience with other wonderful volunteers!
Volunteering at the Food Bank was super fun! We boxed over 5000 pounds of food. The experience was great, and I will be back for sure!
The afternoon shift is just as fun and interactive as the early shift. I really enjoy watching the team members there because they are as funny and enthusiastic after all the time they put it! They are inspiring just like the work they do!
I love volunteering at the food bank because it's very fun and meaningful work that you're doing. The people are great and is fun meeting new people every time I go there!
Very enjoyable experience. I was able to gain a variety of knowledge from the Food Bank, with also gaining a great experience that was able to remind me of how each of us can make an impact. Will definitely do again!
Today I volunteered and the Central Texas Food Bank (formerly Capital Area Food bank of Texas) by helping sort dry food items that would be shipped to local distribution centers in the Austin area. This was a fun volunteering event and I enjoyed having the opportunity to give back to my community. In all, the group I volunteered with helped to provide over 7000 meal for families in the Austin area.
It was a great experience. We were able to process 6300 pounds of food over the time we were there. I organized the event as the Service chair for NSBE. A contact at the food bank is Latoya Thomas: email@example.com
