Most of the food inspected was thrown out since that day, the food inspected was donated from stores/companies who had no use for it anymore
This time was very unique because when I went I met a UT student who goes to the Foodbank almost every weekend. I almost felt guilty because I really only go to the foodbank when I have volunteer hours to fill. Because of this I actually scheduled extra volunteer opportunities for this semester hoping that the 5 hour requirement isn't the only thing that inspires me to give back.
I had a great time, also fun to go help out the food bank.
It was a lot of fun and a great atmosphere! I never knew what went into running food banks behind the scenes in a large city like Austin. I definetly felt I was helping make a difference. Also its awesome when they quantify how much you have done in the time you are there.
Amazing volunteer experience ,really enjoyed helping the food bank, and their cause is admirable.
This is actual work that amounts to so much for the community. This organization feeds so many with just one shift and a few volunteers. We work in a warehouse sorting donations, cleaning, keeping it going, and it is for a great cause. I am so glad I can be an active volunteer for this organization.
