I volunteered at TreeFolks by helping load and unload trees. These trees will help the Austin community by creating a healthier environment.
Great to have 1000 new native saplings in the park!
We planted trees along a creek area w/ TreeFolk along with other organizations around the Austin area.
On Saturday, November 22, 2014, I, along with the other TreeFolk Volunteers from UT Rec Center, drove to Bastrop, TX in order to plant trees. We gathered at around seven in the morning in front of UT Gregory Gym. At Bastrop, around 76 volunteers were able to plant a couple hundred of trees. We were told that these trees would be beneficial for landowner's properties as well as the endangered Houston Toad. Overall, this was a great volunteering experience.
I really enjoyed this service because it was something I always wanted to do which is help getting more trees out in the community. The organizers were kind and generous which made the environment feel much nicer and friendly.
I love helping out the the community when it comes to planting trees, so when I saw this as an option I signed up. It wasn't easy thats for sure, but it made me feel good knowing that I am helping out Austin in getting more trees in the ground.
