Event DescriptionFour nights a week, volunteer tutors come to our various sites to provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring, as well as assistance with cultural and arts enrichment activities to the children in our programs who have been identified as a grade behind or more in school based on our math and reading assesments. Hot Meals & Homework is a voluntary program, and the children who participate are invested in their lives and their families. Twice a week, an area restaurant, individual, or organization provides a hot meal for each child to enjoy after their Hot Meals & Homework session.

There are 6 HMHW sites. 4 are in Norfolk, 1 in Chesapeake, and 1 in Suffolk. To get involved with HMHW, please complete a volunteer application on our website at http://forkidsva.org/get_involved/volunteer.html. You will be required to attend a volunteer orientation and complete a criminal background check before starting. If you have questions, please email volunteer@forkidsva.org and we will be happy to help.
