Event Description

Do you support educational equity? Are you looking for a way to serve your community but can’t seem to find the time in your busy schedule? The Youth Tutoring Program offers a meaningful way for you to give back with only a one hour per week minimum commitment!

YTP offers free, one-to-one tutoring for approximately 500 students grades 1-12 in six different low-income housing communities throughout Seattle. We serve a diverse group of students, 99% of whom are children of color and the majority of whom come from immigrant and refugee families. We build individualized tutoring plans for each unique student with a focus on skill building so our students can catch-up and get ahead in school. We need dedicated and caring tutors like you to tutor students 1:1 and foster meaningful mentoring and tutoring relationships.

No teaching experience is necessary- not only do we train our volunteers to be effective tutors, we provide our volunteers with the tools they need to make a difference!

We have six tutoring centers throughout Seattle:

High Point in West Seattle: [M - Th]

Jackson Park in Lake City: [M - Th]

Lake Washington Apartments in Rainier Beach: [M & W]

New Holly in South Beacon Hill: [M - Th]

Rainier Vista in Rainier Valley/Columbia City: [M - Th]

Yesler Terrace in First Hill: [M - Th]

The six tutoring centers are open the following times, with a few exceptions:

Mondays and Wednesdays for three sessions each: 4:20-5:20, 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40.

Tuesdays and Thursdays for two sessions each: 5:30-6:30 and 6:40-7:40pm.

Volunteers sign up for at least one hour per week, and are asked to commit to volunteering for six months.

Apply now and help students achieve their potential academically and personally!
