Shift Name | Teach In: Advancing Racial Equity in Programming (Intermediate Topic) |
---|---|
Description | Adriana McCleer is the Community Partnerships Supervisor at Appleton Public Library, where she oversees programs, community engagement, outreach, and partnerships related to teens and adults. A presentation on advancing racial equity in programming will be given.
Local programming efforts have the power to reduce racial disparities and advance racial equity. Most individuals and groups can be more intentional about advancing racial equity through self-awareness, strategic questioning, inclusive decision-making, and deep investment in resources of time, funding, and people. While this can seem daunting if you are doing more with less, the impact of these efforts will benefit all stakeholders and generate greater capacity for future initiatives. This teach-in session will provide participants with strategies to advance racial equity in programming, illustrating strengths and limitations of local community programs with efforts to advance racial equity.
This teach in will be at Plantz Hall. |
