Welcome Spring with us at Festival Beach Community Garden Spring Clean!

The activity leaders were excellent, providing clear direction and setting a relaxed, friendly pace. The workload was well-matched to the capabilities of the volunteers. We had good tools. And whoever chose the weather did a great job!

Festival Beach Food Forest Spring (Mulch) Fling!

This was a complicated activity - planting, weeding, watering, mulching - with dozens of volunteers, and perhaps 10 leaders. The different jobs came and went, so people needed to be re-assigned regularly. It would have been helpful if the leaders were clearly identified, maybe a unique T-shirt or cap, so volunteers could find a leader quickly and move on to the next job. As it was, we found ourselves looking for leaders, and standing around occasionally between tasks.

Another splendid "It's My Park Day" activity - perfectly organized, mulch and tools for everyone, a fun and informative safety talk to kick things off, well-paced activity, and a good crew that finished an hour ahead of schedule.

    Waller Creek Cleanup!

The activity was well-organized, friendly and appropriately scoped for men, women and children to participate. The activity leaders arrived well before the other participants and had all necessary materials arranged. After a short speech emphasizing safety and describing the scope of the activity, we got down to work and were able to make a visible improvement in the cleanliness of the area.
