We led a group of 15 REI employees, plus about 25 other community members in trash removal, trail clearing and invasive removal projects. It's great to see the trail become more open and usable!
I attended the presentation and hike with Texas Conservation Corps, and both were great. The hike was a perfect way to see the trail design concepts discussed in the presentation in real life.
Attendance was unfortunately very low, so I wonder if there is much interest in educational activities on a day that's typically dedicated to physical stewardship.
I was only able to stay for a little while, but I had a great time assisting the group mulching trees. The sign in table and tools were all laid out and ready to go when I arrived. SCC staff did a great job of introducing the projects, and I felt fully supported as a volunteer.
