I enjoyed being out in the outdoors, getting my hands dirty and planting. I have always been interested in trying gardening, so this was completely different from what i usually volunteer to do, so it was definitely an experience.
It was such a blessing being able to volunteer for the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), a non-profit organization that is transforming the lives of those devastated by fires, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes by bringing emotional, physical and spiritual relief to families. The goal of ADRN is to sponsor families affected by disaster and provide them with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. I worked along side the coordinator to package essential items into boxes, load and organize the boxes to be carried into the eighteen wheeler which then transports the materials and items to relief areas to those who are in need.
