In 2017 I helped out at the event booths for a few events including the Earth Day and Hot Sauce festivals. The orientation was incredibly informative and Jennifer Denton always answered any of my questions with incredible thought and detail! I also received a Zero Waste Professional certification during the time of that program. I met some wonderful people making a difference in our community at that training and was able to make a lot of changes at my company thanks to everything I learned. I highly recommend volunteering with this group!

Refugee Services of Texas provided one of the best volunteer/internship experiences I have been fortunate enough to have. They go out of their way to help you learn about the needs and experiences of those they serve, to support you through your volunteering experience, and to make a difference in general. I volunteered on the admin side and helped with several development projects. I am looking forward to volunteering in more roles, such as airport pickup and apartment set up, once it is safe/responsible to do so. I want to remain unbiased in saying how truly welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable the RST team is and say that as of last month (after several months of volunteering first) I am now working for RST.
The best experiences I’ve had while donating blood all have happened at We Are Blood. The people volunteering and employed there are all so welcoming, thoughtful, and patient. The intake process is clear. I did unfortunately have a fainting incident the last time I was there but this was my own fault, as I didn’t follow their advice to eat solid food right after donating considering it more of a suggestion then a law (don’t make my mistake!)
Every time I have volunteered for Central Texas Food Bank the staff is always very clear about what to do and how to do it.
The park cleanup was well organized and all of the supplies and information we needed were provided. I didn't realize the scope of the work that needed to be done, but there are always surprises in everything. Malcolm, the organizer, kept in contact with me before the event and answered every question I had, and all of the other volunteers were very friendly with high spirits through the hard work.
The Amala Foundation is an incredibly well organized and warm hearted non-profit. I learned more than I thought I could while volunteering as a grant writer and fundraiser here, and could not have had a better experience. Jen Lucas is an amazing and talented leader, and the rest of the staff know how to make volunteers feel welcome and included. The impact they are making is astounding in youth leadership and cultural connection.
Globetrotting for Good gives an amazing volunteer experience, the whole team has so much passion and vision for making it as easy as possible to do good around the world. I helped with fundraising and haven't been able to get the time off of work to do a trip with them yet, but the whole experience sounds like the best volunteer trip a person could take. If you are considering volunteering with this group, or learning more, I hope you don't hesitate to reach out to them!
