I volunteer at Foundation Communities weekly food pantry from the beginning of September until now. Where I helped set up the space, set up the food and help afterwards with the cleaning of the space. This was a great experience because I gave back to a great community of individuals. I was also exposed to a variety of people with who have or are overcoming financial or emotional hardships.

I volunteer at Foundation Communities' after school Teen Program. We took a group of students to Bartholomew park, where they went out into the community in order to explore the Austin Area and build community within themselves.

Throughout the course of the semester, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Linder Elementary in South Austin. I would come here twice a week and tutor a student in a Dual Language Classroom. Though this tutoring I helped my student learn, comprehend and grasp concepts in English, since English is his second language. This experience helped me branch out into the school community I could potentially be working for one day. It gave me some valuable insight as to what it takes to help Emergent Bilinguals succeed in the classroom.

Thank you Jose for making a difference at Linder Elementary!
