Impacts
Every Sunday since February and really starting in April I have lead curriculum meetings for my alternative breaks San Francisco trip. This is an impact to note because the participants I am teaching it to and working with will be implementing it on our service break during the last week of May. We will be working with community partners out in San Francisco doing service along side them.
In this volunteering opportunity for Be the Change week on campus sponsored by the LCCE we made care kits for the homeless and got students involved to do the same. In which later on in the day they were donated to ARCH.
Did service in New Orleans, Louisiana restoring a house for Habitat for Humanity over Spring Break and served as a Trip leader along side 5 other trip leaders to a group of 26 people. Worked every day on the house from 8:30-2:30

These 6 hours i combined because they were through LCCE. 3 hours were dedicated to team building through a ropes course with Hali Hoyt. Being an Alternative Breaks Leader this required communication skills along with motivating others to push their obstacles that were challenging. The obstacle course represented what kind of challenges we could possibly face in the New Orleans community. The other 3 hours were dedicated to training as a site leader for The Project with Amory Baril. We site leaders worked along side Home Depot workers in landscaping, painting, and other handy work that we will be facing come Project day. |
I think it was really great writing holiday letters to holiday heroes in Afghanistan and Iraq. I think it's great encouragement and let's the troops know we are thinking about them.
Working as a site leader was a great opportunity to create collaborative work within my group. We did a lot of communicating to get the dirty work done, and the community members were so happy about it.
I had an awesome crew, and a great site coordinator. The community there was extremely grateful for the help that was provided in cleaning up the creek.
Even though I was apart of the tear down crew I thought the festival was really neat and unique and I still had fun.
Hi Ciarah--What is this impact for? Please include the name of the event and a brief review of the service event so I can verify it. Thanks. -DeAna
