I enjoyed another shift with SOME, volunteering with the GW Men's Tennis Team. This time I served coffee. Thanks for the opportunity!
Working at SOME was a valuable experience for me (6:30 am - 9:30 am shift). Even though I was washing and stacking dishes most of the time, I was still able to see the impact I had on the initiative. There were many people who came through those doors in need of food and I was happy to be a part of fulfilling that need.
Today was my last shift for the semester. I enjoyed working with Mark and learnt a lot about Martha's Table in the process. Grateful for the opportunity to volunteer.
Working with Eduardo again, we were familiar with the task at hand. Another enjoyable session and looking forward to my last shift for the semester next Monday.
Another session at the Food and Tidy Up Shift. Working with two other students that hadn't done the shift before, I helped guide them on what to do. Another enjoyable shift with Mark, he does a great job of coordinating students efficiently and respectfully.
Today I worked with two other girls. Neither of them had done the tidy up shift before, however, I was able to use my previous experience to teach them the basics of what we were doing. Another enjoyable experience and happy to help out again!
Today there were 4 people on shift. This meant that we could be assigned to different tasks and increase our output relative to time.
This volunteering shift differed from my food and tidy up shifts because it was focused on clothing rather than food. I enjoyed working with my teammates, we were able to get a lot done and complete each task required.
Today I had the pleasure of working with a partner. We were able to work together effectively. Today there was more to be done, but with an extra person to assist we were able to finish quickly.
