A few of my teammates and I participated in the Rock Creek Park EXTREME clean-up alongside other GW Athletics teams. We went around the Rock Creek area and picked up litter and recyclable items.
I helped out at the Montgomery County Energy Summit hosted by Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and USGBC NCR. This event is an opportunity for sustainability and green building leaders in the DMV to come together, share best practices, and learn from each other. I offered support to the NCR team by helping with registration, directing attendants around the venue, room monitoring, and check-in.
Two members of my team, Miranda and Peter, conduct research for the School of Business and they focus on goodwill chocolate -- promoting sustainability in chocolate production and social corporate responsibility. They invited us to an on-site visit where we learned about River-Sea's mission, their production mechanisms, and had the chance to help with packaging husks of cacao beans!
USGBC MD hosted their annual Wintergreen Awards to recognize leaders in green building and sustainability in the state, I helped with event set-up and support.
Helped out on a panel focusing on positive body image/health directed towards Elementary School students participating in a National Women and Girls in Sports Day "Lead Her Forward" clinic.
