This day was much more eye opening than the last and allowed me to gain more insight as to the daily struggles that different parents navigate through with their children and families. I spent several hours just listening and talking with mothers and their concerns on support, care, family, medical care and navigation, future out comes, mental health, etc. I found that regardless of their situation or the outcome, everyone was glad to have the Ronald McDonald room and Dell staff spring them in this struggle.

This was my first official day and really quiet. I was about nervous and actually quite tired. This day I really just filled out paper work and briefly talked to individuals using the rooms. I wad opportunistic and just nervous of what was to come.

It was a wonderful and relieving experience to finally meet the individual I had been emailing and conversing over the phone with for a couple weeks. After going through the process of finding a service learning project and having to struggle through bureaucracy to verify my childhood immunizations and have other blood work done, it seems biter sweet to be loaded down with only more paperwork to fill out, but I am on board with the process. After taking the tour of the facility and actually interacting with some of the individuals benefiting from the service, I am sure I am in the right place. Only God knows where we go from here. I did not expect the environment, but that just makes it even better to work in.
