Lauren and I mostly focused on reading. We traded off reading paragraphs aloud, taking occasional breaks to walk around and refocus, but we finished the entire book.
Lauren and I worked on spelling, reading, and state capitals. There were quite a few spelling mistakes in the beginning, but we were able to identify the common problems and that made everything go a lot smoother. We had to take breaks to walk around in between reading and capitals, but it always helped Lauren focus when we got back.
My tutee, her mom, and I went over the rules and expectations and signed the contract, and then during the actual tutoring session we focused on math and reading.
