Attended service partner reflection meeting. Preparations for the new semester - made event to post on service course pages and made plans to attend symposium.
This has been my third semester working with FoodPrints as a classroom assistant. This was my favorite semester yet. I loved getting to work with a small group of slightly older students. We got to cook with them almost every week and it was lovely to watch their food-preparation skills grow. I also loved watching them expand their palettes, trying (and often enjoying) new ingredients and dishes. Volunteering with FoodPrints has furthered my love of working with children especially in the realm of cooking. Food is such a powerful equalizer and point of common interest for them.
I really enjoy my position as the GW volunteer manager for FoodPrints. This position has granted me a greater level of responsibility beyond my direct service once a week. I enjoy connecting students to service opportunities within FoodPrints and observing the kind of work they do at site based on their service reflections. I am interested in entering the nonprofit realm right out of college, so this work has equipped me with skills like efficient and clear communication, website management, and data processing.
