I learned about many new programs I had not heard of previously.
I transcribed and reviewed Labor contract pages on the Smithsonian site. These were mainly labor contracts for the bureau of refugees, freedmen, and land abandonment. These were mostly in the Washington D.C. area and around the year 1866.
I also have attached a PDF document that shows a record of the pages I transcribed along with when I completed them.
At the DC Central Kitchen, I helped with general food prep. Specifically, I helped chop up greens, scoop meat into trays, and label containers. This was an extremely rewarding experience that introduced me to many new people and allowed me to engage in meaningful service.
