It was fun walking around campus switching off lights, the people involved were nice and it was great getting a cool t-shirt. The best part was knowing that we were actually making a difference by turning light off instead of asking people to do it, which in most cases never falls through.
Helping Dr. Biberdorf with the Chemistry Shows was one of the most amazing volunteer experiences I have ever participated in. I was able to help set up for every show and I was Dr. Biberdor's assistant on stage during the show as well. It was fun being able to entertaining those that were a part of Explore UT.
As a volunteer for Dr. Biberdorf, I was able to be part of the chemistry show, helping set up and aiding Dr. B on stage, which was an extraordinary experience. Seeing all the kids scream with joy and excitement made it worth while working in the show. Overall this Introduce a girl to engineering day event was amazing.
Seeing all the children and families having a great time was amazing. It was truly fun being able to help out the families of dove springs.
At the Research Forum, my job was to help with the presentation of the research streams to other students and faculty at the event. I was also tasked with staying after the event and helping clean up and making sure the research posters were taken up. Helping out at the event was so much fun since we got to see other students present their projects and at the same time help educate other students about the different types of research being done on campus .
The event was held at the Thinkery Children's Museum. There we helped set up and organize the Fun with Chemistry show. As volunteers we were tasked with setting up the chemistry demos for the children, including making ice cream for them. We also cleaned up after the show had ended making sure everything was put up. Overall the experience was amazing in that we got to teach children about science. Seeing them get excited about science made it worth taking time out of my day to be there.
Volunteering at the trail of lights was amazing. Not were we helping out the community but being there in general was fun. We got to see all the beautiful lights and decorations as well. Seeing all the peoples faces was worth sanding out in the cold and I would gladly do it again.
Writing to the Iron Rakkasan was a fun a unique experience that i'm glad I was able to be apart of. The atmosphere of the ballroom was very joyful and uplifting.
