About

Please join the Greenbelt Guardians as we come out of hibernation and resume our ongoing stewardship of the Barton Creek Greenbelt with a workday at the Homedale access led by Collins Van Nort.

We'll be doing removal of invasive plants (ligustrum and nandina), reseeding the disturbed soil with natives, and picking up trash in the area.

Kids are welcome, but younger ones will need to bring a parent along with them. We'll provide the team leaders and tools needed for all of the work. Please bring a water bottle, a pair of work gloves (if you have them), and wear closed-toe shoes. Long pants and long sleeves will also help to protect against poison ivy.

Thanks for volunteering! We look forward to seeing you soon.

PLEASE NOTE: In light of the current COVID pandemic, we have worked with our partners at Austin Parks Foundation and City of Austin Parks and Rec to implement the following procedures:
  • Project registration will be very limited so please only register if you are certain you can participate, and if something changes between registration and the event, please let us know so we can open that spot back up.
  • All volunteers are REQUIRED to wear masks and register in GivePulse. Social Distancing practices will be maintained throughout the project Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer and gloves.
  • The following people should all remain home and cancel registration if applicable: Immunocompromised or at-risk individuals Anyone who has been exposed to someone that tested positive Anyone who is following direct recommendation from their health-care provider to self-quarantine.
