Rooted at Givens: It’s My Park Day with Austin Park Rangers

Join us for It’s My Park Day at Givens District Park, a community workday led in coordination with the Austin Park Rangers and Austin Parks & Recreation staff. This project focuses on caring for trees, fence lines, and shared park spaces while supporting long-term stewardship of the park.

Volunteers will work alongside park staff and rangers to complete hands-on improvements that directly benefit the landscape and park users.

Planned activities include:

• Spreading mulch around trees and landscaped areas
• Light tree pruning (no chainsaws or heavy equipment)
• Clearing vines and overgrowth along fence lines
• General park clean-up

All activities will be guided on site by Austin Park Rangers and PARD staff. Tools, gloves, mulch, and materials will be provided.

What Volunteers Should Expect & Bring

This is light to moderate outdoor work at a community pace. Volunteers should bring:

• A reusable water bottle
• Snacks (optional)
• Closed-toe shoes
• Weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty
