Solo Park Clean Up - Ongoing and at a Park of your choosing!

Open Opportunity

About

The past few years have been hard for us all and our parks! The city faced staff shortages, and while parks are seeing record usage, our friends at PARD just aren't able to keep up with all the trash! YOU can help. Here's how:
1. Leave No Trace
Whenever you visit our parks trails and green spaces, be sure to follow leave no trace guidelines. Make sure anything you bring into the park, comes back out with you. Don't leave trash or any items in the park.
2. Pick up some trash!
If you head out to a park you can enjoy the space give back at the same time! Bring a trash bag and some kitchen tongs/gloves with you and pick up any trash you see. Note: if the trash you pick up at the park will not fit in the park trash cans or on-site dumpsters please take it home to dispose of it! Parks staff are only able to handle the regular amount of trash in trash cans, so please do not stack up excess outside of these.
Your help in keeping the parks clean will be SO valuable. Thank you!

I have extra time to clean and nephews who want to help. Are there any specific parks especially in north Austin that need extra cleaning. Thanks!

I typically head to Walnut Creek but if there are any other parks that need more attention or seem to in distress please let me know! I would be happy to switch it up!

Just moved to the East Side near Tillary, South of Airport. This neighborhood needs a lot of attention....trash everywhere, more than I could ever handle solo but doing my best to make an impact by taking either a trash or recycle ♻️ bag and gloves when I’m out walking my dogs. This would be a great spot for a group clean up once the virus is under control.

I go trail running every weekend and happy to help clean up as I go. Are there certain trails that need more attention?

Thanks. I continue to pick up trash and to rake up debris washed down into West Austin Park with each heavy rain. We also have areas where large puddles form after each heavy rain that need unblocking.

Is there a way that people who volunteer for this can borrow trash grabbers? I know of a group of trail runners who would like to spread out across as many trails as they can cover in teams of 1 to 5 (no more than will allow enough distancing on the trail being cleaned up). I can get them gloves. Is there a way we can let their contact pick up some grabbers?
