About
Since 1991, neighbors and community volunteers have maintained parks and green spaces around East and West Bouldin Creek. While there will be some trash to be collected both creeks are pretty clean, thanks to the ongoing efforts of engaged neighbors.
This gives us a chance to concentrate our efforts on maintaining trails in the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt and removing invasive plants, such as Nandina, Cats Claw and Ligustrum. We will also weed beds in both Nicholas Dawson and Ricky Guerrero parks.
We will meet at 8:30 am at the South 1st and Gibson Street entrance to Nicholas Dawson Park, adjacent to the El Mercado parking lot. After coffee, we will disperse to various locations along the creeks and in the greenbelt. At 11:30 am, we will meet again to enjoy refreshments provided by area restaurants.
Cotton gloves, trash bags and some weed wrenches will be provided. Please be sure to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to guard against poison ivy, as well as sturdy shoes. If you plan to work in flower beds or remove invasives, please bring small gardening tools such as loppers and trowels.
Be prepared to get muddy and dirty and have a very good time with your entire family, including kids and dogs.
Individuals under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult in order to volunteer.
